Belzona 6111 (Liquid Anode)

Environmental corrosion protection epoxy coating for metallic surfaces.
Description

A two-part zinc rich epoxy resin designed for the coating of metallic surfaces to provide corrosion protection. This solvent based material is ideal in marine and industrial environments where long-term corrosion resistance is required.

Belzona 6111 (Liquid Anode) is easy to mix and can be applied by brush or by spray without the need for specialist tools. It will cure at room temperature, eliminating the need for hot work.

  • Application and cure at room temperature – no hot work involved
  • Can be sprayed for large application area
  • Outstanding corrosion resistance by providing a cathodic protection as the system contains not less than 90% high purity zinc dust in the dry film
  • Does not allow rust creep at damaged areas
  • “Self-healing” properties
  • Can be overcoated to increase chemical resistance using Belzona 5111 (Ceramic Cladding)

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

A zinc-rich epoxy is a polymer primer coating with the additional ingredient of zinc to provide corrosion protection to metallic surfaces in addition to durability when it is needed.

To apply the 2-part epoxy resin, Belzona 6111 (Liquid Anode) first thoroughly clean steel contaminated by chemicals using a high-pressure water wash. Steel contaminated by oil, grease, etc., must be thoroughly washed down with Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser) or other effective cleaners. Next, blast clean the steel to be treated with Belzona 6111 (Liquid Anode) to ensure intimate contact between the steel and the product. Then, mix the Base and Solidifier by stirring the base component to achieve an even consistency. Slowly add the entire contents of the Solidifier can, stirring continuously until complete mixing is achieved. After, apply the product using a short-bristled brush, ensuring the surface is evenly coated. Apply a second coat within the recommended overcoat times. Finally, allow it to cure.
