Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide)

Abrasion-resistant, 2-part epoxy composite for the repair and lining of metal surfaces subject to erosive attack.
Description

A ceramic polymer, epoxy repair material incorporating abrasion-resistant ceramic aggregates for the repair and protection of metal surfaces suffering from sliding abrasion. Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide) resists deformation damage and wear providing long-term abrasion resistance.

This highly durable composite material can be applied without the need for specialist tools to unlimited thickness onto vertical and horizontal surfaces up to a dry temperature of 150°C (300°F). Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide) will not corrode and is resistant to a wide range of chemicals. It will bond to a variety of substrates providing a seamless lining coupled with excellent abrasion and wear resistance to coarse materials.

Alternatively, where problems due to very fine particle abrasion occur, Belzona 1812 (Ceramic Carbide FP) has been developed.

Belzona 1811 – belongs to the Abrasion Resistant Metals – Belzona products included on the Series 1000.

  • High abrasion and wear resistance
  • Will not corrode
  • Solvent-free allowing it to be applied safely in confined areas
  • Excellent bonding to many metal surfaces including steel and cast iron
  • Application and cure at room temperature – no hot work involved
  • Long working life
  • Fast cure rate ensures a prompt return to service
  • High mechanical strength
  • Protection of pipework, pipe bends, elbows, and valves from abrasion

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

To ensure an effective molecular weld, only apply the abrasion-resistant material, Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide), to clean, firm, dry, and well-roughened surfaces. To achieve this, firstly clear away any loose contamination and use Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser) to clean and degrease the surface. Following this, roughen the surface by blast cleaning, deeply scoring, or grinding. Degrease the surface again, allowing the surface to dry before combining the reactive components. To do this, transfer the entire amount of Base and Solidifier components onto the Belzona Working Surface. Mix thoroughly to achieve a uniform material free of any streakiness. Next, apply the Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide) directly onto the prepared surface with the plastic applicator or spatula provided. Finally, mixing tools should be cleaned immediately after use with Belzona 9111 or any other effective solvent e.g., Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). Application tools should be cleaned with Belzona 9121, MEK, or cellulose thinners.   For more information, read the Instructions for Use (IFU):  Belzona 1811

The 2-part epoxy, Belzona 1811 (Ceramic Carbide) provides abrasion resistance by creating a barrier that prevents ridged materials from meeting the substrate underneath.
