Belzona 5815 (Immersion Grade)

A chemical-resistant, anti-corrosion coating designed for the protection of equipment operating under immersion.
Description

Belzona 5815 is a two-component, solvent-free, flexible coating system designed for protecting non-metallic and metallic surfaces.
This chemical-resistant barrier coating provides a cost-effective solution for substrates exposed to short-term chemical immersion or accidental spillages.
Due to its enhanced elongation, Belzona 5815 can accommodate anticipated movement in building materials such as concrete and carbon steel.
The high-performance coating can be applied by brush, roller, squeegee, and airless spray equipment. It is available in two distinctive colors, gray and khaki, to aid the application of the two-coat system.

  • Erosion protection against rain and debris, specifically designed for LEP
  • Outstanding adhesion to GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic)
  • Curing time is minimised to half an hour, even at temperatures as low as 5°C (41°F)
  • Excellent long-term protection against the effects of UV degradation
  • This solvent-free system is easy to mix and apply by brush, without the need for hot work
  • Long term protection of the leading edge on wind turbine blades.
  • Erosion and corrosion protection on to similar types of equipment, including fan blades

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

A chemical resistance coating is an epoxy-based coating that will protect the substrate against deterioration or corrosion from chemicals, oxidation, moisture, and a variety of environmental factors.

To apply the flexible coating, Belzona 5815, brush away any loose contamination and remove dirt and oil, and grease. Degrease with Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser). Abrade the substrate, if necessary, to create the recommended profile. To mix the material, transfer the entire contents of the Solidifier container into the Base container. Mix thoroughly together to achieve a uniform material free of any streakiness. Next, apply Belzona 5815 directly onto the prepared surface with a short-bristled brush or rubber squeegee. As soon as possible after the application of the first coat, apply a further coat of Belzona 5815. Suitable areas may be coated by spray using heated airless equipment. Use either a single airless pump or plural equipment capable of metering accurately and mixing the two components. Lastly, allow the product to cure. Please see the Instructions for Use (IFU) for more information.
The cure time for the concrete protection coating, Belzona 5815 is as follows:
Ambient temperature Light loading Mechanical/ thermal loading or water contact Chemical contact
50°F (10°C) 40 hours 11 days 21 days
59°F (15°C) 30 hours 9 days 18 days
68°F (20°C) 18 hours 7 days 15 days
86°F (30°C) 10 hours 5 days 12 days
104°F (40°C) 8 hours 3 days 10 days
