Description

A solvent-free, single-component epoxy coating, which cures in contact with hot surfaces and is designed to prevent or protect metal from corrosion under insulation (CUI). Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier) can be easily applied by brush and does not require any weighing or mixing.

This heat-activated material can be applied directly onto hot surfaces (70-150°C / 158-302°F) with minimal surface preparation, avoiding production downtime. Once cured, it provides outstanding corrosion protection. Also available is Belzona 1251 (HA-Barrier), a heat-activated epoxy repair composite that can be used in fill pitting and bond equipment among other applications.

Belzona’s high-temperature epoxies can withstand extreme temperatures. For example, the heat-activated material, Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier) can be applied directly onto hot surfaces (70-150°C / 158-302°F) with minimal surface preparation, avoiding production downtime. Once cured, it provides outstanding corrosion protection.

How do you apply the heat-resistant epoxy, 5851 (HA-Barrier)? To apply the heat-resistant epoxy, Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier) brush away any loose contamination and remove dirt and oil, and grease. Degrease with Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser). Abrade the substrate, if necessary, to create the recommended profile. Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier) is a single component product and so no mixing or measuring is required. Next, apply Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier) directly onto the prepared surface with a short-bristled brush. As soon as possible after the application of the first coat, apply a further coat of Belzona 5851 (HA-Barrier). Lastly, allow the product to cure.
