Description

Belzona 1131 (Bearing Metal) is a 2-part epoxy paste with self-lubricating properties for the creation of low friction surfaces and protection of lubrication systems from wear and seizure in the event of lubrication loss. This solvent-free composite repair system has a unique microporous structure which allows it to trap and hold lubricating oil, minimizing friction at start-up and improving the efficiency of mechanical equipment such as pumps. It has outstanding chemical resistance and will bond to almost any rigid surface without the need for hot work– providing an excellent alternative to welding.

To ensure an effective molecular weld, only apply the epoxy repair composite, Belzona 1131 (Bearing Metal), to clean, firm, dry, and well-roughened surfaces. To achieve this, firstly clear away any loose contamination and use Belzona 9111 (Cleaner/Degreaser) to clean and degrease the surface. Following this, roughen the surface by blast cleaning, deeply scoring, or grinding. Degrease the surface again, allowing the surface to dry before combining the reactive components. To do this, transfer the required amount of Base and Solidifier components onto the Belzona Working Surface, ensuring the correct mixing ratio is followed. Mix thoroughly to achieve a uniform material free of any streakiness. Next, apply the Belzona 1131 (Bearing Metal) directly onto the prepared surface with the plastic applicator or spatula provided. Finally, mixing tools should be cleaned immediately after use with Belzona 9111 or any other effective solvent e.g., Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK).
